CANCUN, Mexico – January 9th, 2010 – A new beach is born at The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun marveling the sophisticated traveler. The Caribbean oceanfront resort has recently added to its world-class facilities a 300 feet depth beach as part of Cancun’s $71 million beach recovery project.
The colossal enterprise contemplates extracting and pumping more than 5.2 million cubic meters of sand using 2,137 tons of equipment which is equal to 4,470 linear meters of pipe use on land, floating and submerged for the restoration of the sand. As a result, the white-sand beach in front of the resort has been restored and is larger and more gorgeous than ever before.
“It has been a truly unique experience to witness first hand a project of this magnitude and we are extremely happy to begin the New Year with what probably is one of the world’s best beaches. Guests will find new programs designed to bring back to life the lively ambiance of vacationing on the beach which will make the travel experience to Cancun even more memorable,” said Hermann Elger, general manager.
To highlight the dramatic expansion, guests staying at The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun will experience a beach celebration program that includes dining literally on the beach, moonlight fiestas, salsa lessons, ocean-inspired spa treatments and much more.
Casitas, Cancun’s only steakhouse on the beach may be the hottest restaurant in the area boasting chic hand-made cabanas transformed into a private dining room in which intimate lighting and the sounds of the ocean make for live entertainment.
Marking the close of sunny days and the beginning of entertaining evenings, every Saturday the resort will perform a Moonlight Fest, a contemporary Mexican beach lounge with a bonfire and tropical fresh drinks setting the tone for a unique seaside night under the stars.
Looking for a tropical drink? New ocean-inspired beverages are introduced in all six restaurants. Guests may choose from tasting a fresh Margarita Caribe or a tantalizing Ocean Waves Martini. In addition, foodies may learn how to prepare a Red Snapper Ceviche at the resort’s Viking Culinary Center.
For the little ladies and gents sunny days offer entertaining Sand Castle Contests and beach Olympics while mom and dad head for a Salsa lesson by the sea. Couples reconnect learning how to dance the exotic Latin moves of salsa or with a soothe spa treatment. The Kayantá Spa presents its Deep Blue Peel a body scrub using rich marine extracts, focus seaweed and herbs for the skin to be deeply cleansed, oxygenated and revitalized.
Beach lovers can reserve the resort’s Beyond Beach package available until June 1, 2010.
