Aeromexico Promotes New Route with Travel Agencies

Aeromexico, Mexico’s global airline, held an event to present the recent start of operations between London and Mexico City, a service which will increase trade, business and tourism ties between the two nations.

The event, held at the Hotel Melia White House, was attended by executives from Corona, Melia and Aeromexico who addressed more than 200 guests from the trade and front line managers of major travel agencies, tour operators, incentive houses and TMC’s about the importance of this new route for both countries. Elias Vivas, Sales Manager for Aeromexico in the United Kingdom, presented “Meet Aeromexico” giving the top trade partners the chance to learn about the airline’s competitive advantages, its products and services.

Since December 15, Aeromexico now flies three times a week to Mexico City International Airport’s Terminal 2, giving business and pleasure passengers the opportunity to enjoy the trade and tourist attractions of more than 45 destinations in Mexico, 20 in North America and 11 in Latin America.

The eco-friendly event may be the darkest night of the year, so archeologists Julia C. Miller and Alfonso Morales from Catherwood Travels will take advantage of this unique opportunity to give an equally entertaining and interesting talk about archaeoastronomy and the Maya use of astronomy. The ancient Maya are famous around the world for their magnificent cities, intricate hieroglyphic writing, and their skill in astronomy. The study of the archaeoastronomy of the Maya has brought to light not only their fascination with the heavens and the movements of the planets and stars but also how they recorded their observations in their books and their buildings, as it will be explored in this conference. Following, the archeologists, with the use of iPads, will invite guests to try to identify some of the constellations and planets that were so important to the ancient Maya.

Delta Volunteers Build Six Homes with Habitat for Humanity in Puebla, Mexico


More than 50 employees volunteer for Delta’s “Force For Global Good” in Mexico

Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) and Habitat for Humanity International will join forces March 5 – 13, to help build six Habitat homes in Puebla, an historic Spanish colonial city approximately 80 miles east of Mexico City, Mexico as part of Delta’s Force for Global Good program to effect positive local and global change. This year’s volunteers come from 18 different cities throughout world, including Montreal, Singapore, Toronto and the U.S.

“Delta has been a supporter of Habitat for Humanity for more than 20 years, building alongside our employees, customers and homeowners,” said Nicolas Ferri, Delta’s vice president – Latin America, Mexico and Caribbean. “I’m very proud that employees continue to build in partnership with families in need of basic shelter within the US and around the world.”

“Serving the people and communities where we live and work is a core value expressed by Delta people every day,” said Tad Hutcheson, Delta’s vice president – Community Affairs. “Our long-standing relationship with Habitat for Humanity has given us the opportunity to provide more than 100 homes around the world.”

Delta people will build six new homes working side by side with the families who will live in the new community upon completion. The structures will be built to resist earthquakes, hurricanes and floods and will be primarily made from concrete block which will require minimal ongoing maintenance for the recipient families.

Delta volunteers will be joined by Dan DeRiemer of Roswell, Ga., a Delta SkyMiles Diamond Medallion member who bid 324,500 miles through Delta’s SkyMiles Online Auction to win the opportunity to participate in the build with his wife, Laura. The miles will be donated to Habitat for Humanity.

This is Delta’s ninth international build with Habitat for Humanity. Delta employees from around the globe use vacation time and pay a portion of their expenses to volunteer on the international builds and help those in need of simple, decent and affordable housing, while also taking the opportunity to learn more about the country and its culture. Delta has been involved in similar projects in Chile, China, Dominican Republic, Ghana, India, South Africa and Thailand.

“These volunteers are more than just a group of people contributing their time to construct a house. They are also helping build a community that learns how teamwork can help them fulfill dreams. Bridges are built between countries and cultures; as well as the satisfaction of being part of a life changing experience,” said Zayra Huertas, resource development director for Habitat for Humanity Mexico. “Habitat for Humanity Mexico is proud to facilitate this experience for both the families and volunteers.”

American Airlines Strengthens Its Network With New Domestic And International Routes This Summer

FORT WORTH, Texas, Feb. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — American Airlines announced today that it will launch new service this summer to San Diego and Mexico from its hubs in Miami (MIA) and Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), respectively. This new service further strengthens American’s overall route network and provides additional options for its customers.

Beginning June 12, American will offer more choices for travel from its Miami hub with the addition of daily service between Miami and San Diego International Airport (SAN). This flight will be operated with a Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 150 seats.  With the addition of this route, American and American Eagle will now serve San Diego from each of its five hubs, with a combined total of 25 daily flights.

New Service to Mexico

Also beginning June 12, American Eagle will begin service between DFW and two new destinations in Mexico – Ignacio Pesqueira Garcia International Airport in Hermosillo (HMO) and General Leobardo C. Ruiz International Airport in Zacatecas (ZCL), pending government approval. Flights between DFW and HMO will operate once daily, and flights between DFW and ZCL will operate on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.  The flights will be operated with a 44-seat Embraer ERJ-140 aircraft.

Southwest Airlines Now Selling Service Between Austin And San Jose Del Cabo/Los Cabos, Mexico Operated By AirTran Airways

DALLAS, Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) and wholly owned subsidiary AirTran Airways began offering for sale new nonstop service international flights between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and San Jose Del Cabo/Los Cabos International Airport in Baja California, Mexico.

AirTran Airways, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Southwest Airlines Co., offers coast-to-coast and near-international service with close to 600 flights a day to 54 destinations.  The carrier’s high-quality product includes assigned seating and Business Class. As Southwest continues to integrate AirTran’s People, places, and planes into Southwest Airlines, Customers of both carriers may book flights at and exchange earned loyalty points between both AirTran’s A+ Rewards® and Southwest’s Rapid Rewards® for reward travel on either airline.

Fare Rules
One-way fares may be purchased today through March 1, 2013, 11:59 p.m. for the respective time zone of the originating city. Travel must take place between June 1, 2013, and Aug. 10, 2013 and requires 14-day advance purchase. International blackout dates include July 2, 4, and 6, 2013.  All fares are for nonstop one-way travel.  All fares are non-refundable and a $75 fee per person applies to any change made after purchase, plus any applicable increase in airfare.  Displayed prices include all government taxes and fees (see *footnote below). A first bag may be checked for a fee of $25 each way and a second bag may be checked for a fee of $35 each way. Reservations may be made via AirTran Airways’ Telephone Reservations Center for a fee of $15. Reservations may also be changed via AirTran Airways’ Telephone Reservations Center for a $15 fee plus any applicable change fees and fare differences. Fares may be combined with other AirTran Airways combinable fares.  If combining with other fares, the rules of the more restrictive fare apply. When combining fares, all rules and restrictions apply. Seats are limited, subject to availability, and may not be available on all flights. Fares, routes, and schedules are subject to change without notice. Fares may vary by destinations, flight, and day of week and won’t be available on some flights that operate during very busy travel times and holiday periods. Fares are nonrefundable but may be applied toward the purchase of future travel on AirTran Airways after applicable change fees and fare differences.  Fares are not available through the Group Desk.  Any change in the itinerary may result in an increase in fare. Fares are valid on published, scheduled service only.
