ITU Continental Cup and Central American and Caribbean Championship – Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Jumex 2008

As is an annual tradition, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo will hold one more edition of its International Triathlon, which for the 24th. edition, it will include the Continental Cup and the Central American and Caribbean Championship.

During this important sport event to take place next May 17, 2008 at 7:30 a.m., athletes may obtain points for the World and Olympic ranking. Senior, youth, children, amateur, sub- 23 and elite are the categories for this competition.

The Triathlon embraces the following disciplines:

* Olympic Triathlon: 1.5 km. swimming, 40 km. cycling, 10 km. running.

* Sprint Triathlon: 750 m. swimming, 20 km. cycling, 5 km. running.

* Children’s Triathlon: Distances according to the child’s age.

It is worth mentioning that routes to be followed in the course of the triathlon were established by FMTRI (Triathlon Mexican Federation) bearing in mind the idea that all participants may enjoy the breathtaking views that Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo – a twice as pleasing destination – has to offer.
