Romance travel is a 28 billion dollar annual market; considering that 10 billion dollars are spent on honeymooning worldwide alone. A year-round market, destination weddings have an average cost of $ 25,806; with an average of about 63 guests in attendance.
Moreover, 8 billion dollars are spent annually by guests attending destination weddings. This growing travel segment, having increased by 400% in the past ten years, has seen a boom in destination weddings. The per capita expenditure of the guests at a destination wedding is $1,620; staying an average of about 2.5 nights at the destination. It is an expense that is comparable to that generated by business tourism.
Even more impressive, over 60% of Mexico’s destination weddings take place in Quintana Roo; the state famous for its beautiful turquoise waters, white sand beaches, romantic hideaways, and, of course, Cancun.
