Wimbledon champion Venus Williams defeated Polona Hercog to win the Mexico Open tennis crown for the second consecutive year. The beautiful tennis complex at the Fairmont Acapulco Princess was the site for the annual event, one of the most popular stops on the tour for the players. Williams prevailed in three sets with scores of 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 on the clay courts.

The men’s ATP title went to Spaniard David Ferrer who defeated fellow countryman Juan Carlos Ferrero 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
